Available Subscription Models

Keypup offers two ways to subscribe to the platform, each designed for a different way of consuming your engineering data.

Full Platform Access is billed per connected project or repository. It is the right fit if your team works inside Keypup: building dashboards, exploring insights, and querying data with the AI agent.

MCP & API is billed per volume of data. It is the right fit if you want to pull Keypup data into your own tools, AI agents, or data warehouse programmatically.

Both models include unlimited users and contributors, full historical data ingestion, and free technical support. You can be on only one model at a time, and you can switch between them (see Switching between subscription models).

Pricing is based on the number of code repositories or tracking projects that you connect to Keypup. It does not depend on how many units exist in your source systems, how many users you invite, or how much history you have.

You only pay for the units you actively connect. Units you leave disconnected are not counted.

A team has 153 repositories on GitHub and 39 projects on Jira. They connect 24 GitHub repos and 11 Jira projects: 35 projects in total.

All datasets are available on this model, as well as dashboarding, AI-based insight building, MCP and API capabilities.

Pricing is based on the volume of data available to you, measured in buckets of 100,000 records. A partial bucket counts as a full block: 210,000 records is billed as 3 buckets.

Your record volume is driven by two things: the projects you keep connected, and the datasets activated on your subscription.

Disconnecting a project reduces your record count, in the same way it reduces your unit count on the per-project model.

All datasets are activated by default. Only newly released datasets must be manually activated.

Pricing is graduated: each tier's rate applies only to the buckets that fall inside that tier's range. Crossing into a higher volume tier does not re-price the blocks below it.

The first bucket is a flat package covering everything up to your first 100,000 records. From the second block onwards, you pay per bucket, at the rate of the tier that bucket falls into.

A team connects several projects containing a total of 1,150,000 records. That rounds up to 12 buckets.

The 12 buckets are priced as: 1 block at the package rate, 4 buckets in the 2–5 tier, 5 buckets in the 6–10 tier, and 2 buckets in the 11–20 tier.

A smaller team with 480,000 records across their connected projects would be billed for 5 blocks: $249/month on annual billing ($49 + 4 × $50), or $311.25/month on monthly billing.

A dataset is a category of records counted toward your volume. When you move onto the MCP & API model, every dataset available at that time is activated on your subscription, so you start with access to all of your data.

Your billable volume is the total number of records across your activated datasets, counted over your connected projects only.

As Keypup adds new datasets, they are not activated automatically on existing MCP & API subscriptions. Because a new dataset adds records - and therefore cost - activating it is an explicit decision you make.

You can activate a new dataset at any time from your billing settings. Before confirming, the platform shows you how many records that dataset holds across your connected projects, so you can see the billing impact.

Note that datasets can be activated but not deactivated. Activation is permanent for the life of the subscription, and takes effect on your bill from the moment it is applied. Review the projected record count before activating.

Newly released datasets will be offered as a free preview for a period of one month. During the preview, it is queryable at no cost and does not count toward your billable volume.

At the end of the free preview, you will need to manually enable the newly released dataset to keep using it. This action will impact your bill based on the number of records the dataset contains.

Both models are available with either an annual or a monthly billing period. Annual billing is discounted by 20%.

Invoices are issued in advance of the upcoming billing period, and you receive an invoice by email after each successful payment. Billing periods renew automatically, and you can cancel at any time.

Within a billing period, your billable quantity can go up but never down. If you connect more units (or activate more datasets) mid-period, you are charged a prorated amount immediately.

If you disconnect, the reduction applies from your next billing period - you keep the quota you have already paid for until then.

You can move between Full Platform Access and MCP & API from your billing settings, subject to the rules below.

You can switch models at any time. The change takes effect immediately and is prorated.

Switching models or switching back to monthly billing is only possible within the last 28 days before your renewal date.

Should you need to switch back to monthly billing or change your subscription model before the renewal period, please contact our support team via chat or email.

Accounts with an agreed minimum or maximum unit commitment cannot switch model directly, because the commitment is tied to a specific billing unit.

Plan changes and dataset activation are restricted to company admins.

Your free trial lasts 14 days from sign-up. No credit card is required, and there is no obligation to subscribe at the end.

During the trial, you have access to all platform features, all datasets, unlimited users, and can connect as many projects and repositories as you like.

You can also switch freely between subscription models during the trial: the annual switching restrictions do not apply while you are trialling.

At the end of the trial, if you do not choose a subscription, your account stays active, and your projects are disconnected so that you are not billed. Billing starts when you reconnect projects and add a valid payment method.

Which model should I choose?

If your team uses Keypup dashboards, insights, and the in-platform AI agent, choose Full Platform Access. If you consume Keypup data from your own systems via MCP or the API and do not need the visual reporting layer, MCP & API is the better fit.

Which one costs less depends on your ratio of connected projects to records: compare the two grids using the live record count shown in your billing settings.

Can I be on both models at the same time?

No. A company is on one model at a time. If you need both interactive access and high-volume programmatic access, Full Platform Access includes API and MCP access across all datasets.

How many users can I invite?

Unlimited, on both models. Keypup does not charge per seat, and the number of active collaborators has no effect on your price.

Does my historical data cost extra on the per-project model?

No. We ingest your full project history, and it does not affect your price on Full Platform Access.

On the MCP & API model, historical records do count toward your record volume, since that model bills on data volume.

How do I know how many records I have?

Your billing settings show your live record count broken down per dataset, including datasets that are not activated on your subscription.

The figure updates as your projects sync, so you can see both what you are billed for today and what activating another dataset would add.

Can I reduce my record count?

Yes, by disconnecting projects. Records only count for projects that are currently connected.

You cannot deactivate a dataset, so disconnecting projects is the lever available to you. As with the per-project model, a reduction applies from your next billing period rather than mid-period.

What happens if I cancel?

Cancellation takes effect immediately, and you are not billed further. There is no refund or credit for the unused part of a cancelled subscription.

Your data remains on the platform so you can pick a new plan later; it is only deleted if you terminate your account.
